       We  have nine wonderful instructors for you to try.

 

Corine Baerwald has been a Hatha Yoga instructor since 1990. She started studying Yoga in 1978 in San Antonio under Ester Vexler and Mary Francis Weathersby and has never looked back. Prior to moving to Kerrville, she taught classes at Palo Alto College and the Omni Center in San Antonio as well as  in La Vernia.  She continues to enhance her skills by studying with teachers around the country such as Donna Farhi and Judith Lasiter. She attends the annual Yoga Journal Teachers training.  She is also Yoga Fit certified. Corine’s patience and deep desire to help others lead richer lives through Yoga is evident in her approach to teaching.

 

 

Willie McDaniel is a certified Yoga instructor with over 15 years experience in body, mind, and spirit work. He has been teaching multi-level classes at the Dieter-Claim Senior Center since 1987. He has also offered weekly classes at his home studio, the Hill Country Meditation and Sculpture Garden, since 1990. He recently began teaching at the Silver Sage Center in Bandera. Willie’s eclectic style of Yoga and his warmth, caring and creativity endear him to his students.

 

 

 

Betty Vernon has been practicing yoga since 1993 and teaching since 2002. Her first hand appreciation of the healthful benefits of a committed yoga practice created a desire to introduce others to it through teaching. She practiced Iyengar yoga for many years with Susan Neely and completed an intensive 200 hour teacher training program through YogaFit. She is a Yoga Alliance certified instructor. Betty teaches a flowing or Vinyasa style of yoga.

 

 

Gwynn Groggel has been practicing  yoga more than 10 years and been teaching for four years. She has studied Iyengar, Anusara,  Kundalini  as well as eclectic Hatha Yoga. She teaches a blend of the styles and enjoys teaching all levels of students.  She has been certified by the Living Yoga Program in Austin, TX and Yoga Alliance. She is a Relax and Renew Trainer certified by Judith Lasater. In addition to teaching, she is the general manager for the yoga space.

 

Jackie Snyder is a Certified Yoga Instructor, certified through the Living Yoga Program in Austin and has been registered with Yoga Alliance.  She began practicing yoga in the 1970’s under the guidance of Esther Vexler in San Antonio.  She has studied Iyengar, Anusara, Kundalini, and eclectic Hatha Yoga.  She also teaches in Uvalde.  Her teaching style is fun and a blend of Iyengar, Anusara, Kundalini, and eclectic Hatha Yoga.  Her enthusiasm and dedication to teaching the benefits of yoga in all aspects of a student’s life comes from a deep personal commitment to yoga.   She has a special love for animals and is a lifelong horsewoman. 

 

Stevie Lake began taking yoga in 2006 and was quickly enraptured with the discipline. She completed her 200-hour teacher certification from the Living Yoga program and continues her studies towards the 500-hour level with Gioconda. She emphasizes “stability over flexibility” and uses the postures to encourage an intimate understanding of proper alignment and an internal knowing of each students’ own body. Classes usually begin with a short devotional reading and centering, limbering exercises and progress vinyasa style through a variety of postures aimed at increasing strength and calming the erratic behavior of the mind, before coming to rest in sivasana.   She currently teaches in Fredericksburg and in Kerrville. Stevie brings with her an unreserved manner and her love of sharing the benefits of yoga. These include improved balance, increased strength, more flexible muscles and the contentment that comes with a healthier and stable body and mind.

 

 

Mark Skrabacz has studied yoga and meditation for over 30 years and has been teaching since 1999 in Santa Fe and Austin. He earned a Master of Divinity degree from the Jesuit School of Theology at Berkeley and lived at a Trappist Monastery, a Sikh Ashram and a Zen Buddhist Monastery where his meditation practice was intensified in community. He also holds workshops around the Southwest. He will be coming to Kerrville on a regular basis and led both meditation and yoga classes and workshops.

 

 

Donna Richards began her yoga path in 2001 and was immediately drawn to it and knew from then on it would always be a part of her life. Donna has completed 200 hours of Iyengar teacher training at Austin Yoga School under Peggy Kelly. She has taken classes with Yoga Fit and has had the honor of attending workshops by world renowned instructors. Donna also is a senior fitness and water fitness instructor and is certified as a Personal Trainer through American Council on Exercise. Her background includes a degree in Psychology and Social Work. Donna finds joy and fulfillment is helping others discover the benefits of yoga.

Jiwanpal Kaur (Deb Hicks) began practicing Hatha Yoga in 2001, and was introduced and fell in love with Kundalini Yoga in 2007. She took that love and studied to be a teacher with Yoga Yoga in Austin. She completed her initial level one training to become a certified Kundalini Yoga teacher in May of 2009 and completed module one of the Kundalini level two training, “Lifestyles and Life Cycles” in December of 2009.  She has already enrolled in the next level two module, “Vitality and Stress” which will begin in September 2010 and is working toward the goal of reaching 500 hours of training. She is now teaching so that she can share her love of Kundalini Yoga with others.
