Saturday, Sept 13th Three Workshops with Donna Belk
Qigong 9:30—11:30
Qigong is an ancient Chinese health care system practiced for health maintenance, healing and increasing vitality. Qigong classes combine (1) easy, gentle movements, (2) relaxation practice through visualization and imagery focus, and (3) breathing practices. These techniques are easy to learn, easy to apply, require no special knowledge or training and can be practiced by all people--sick or well. The gentle, rhythmic movements of Qigong reduce stress, build stamina, increase vitality, and enhance the immune system. It has also been found to improve cardiovascular, respiratory, circulatory, lymphatic and digestive functions. Qigong's great appeal is that anyone can benefit from practicing it, regardless of their level of physical fitness, whether they are young or old, what belief system they hold, their level of income, or life circumstances. Most people find the classes very nurturing, gentle and healing.
Restorative Flow 12:30-2:30
Restorative Flow is a luxurious yoga practice with movements that are slow, gentle, repetitive and rocking to create a class that is deeply nourishing. People who will benefit from this type of practice are: · those who want to deeply relax and de-stress · those wanting a contemplative practice · those with chronic illnesses such as fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, arthritis and are looking for ways to exercise in a safe manner · those with limited range of motion · those who want to develop their awareness of subtle energy or prana those who want to incorporate self-healing into their lifestyle Restorative Flow classes differ from “restorative poses” in that the class is a gentle flow from one relaxing posture into the next. There is no stopping to gather props, to situate yourself in a pose, or to have the help of another person to position you in the pose. One pose flows seamlessly into the next in a relaxing continuum.
Yoga Nidra 3:00– 5:00
Yoga Nidra (“Psychic Sleep”), is a deeply relaxing and healing yogic practice that feels like guided relaxation. One session of Yoga Nidra is said to be equal to approximately three hours of sleep in its ability to rejuvenate. In this class we will do gentle movements to prepare our body to relax, and then we will work in small groups to explore what the most comfortable position is for relaxation. After this we will have a 45 minute guided Yoga Nidra practice where the mind is asked to focus on one part of the body after another. The impact of this is deeply relaxing and nourishing. Come prepared to relax comfortably on your back for a full hour.
